I don't think so - and besides, how is anyone supposed to collate this information and real-world experience? Part of the problem is the relatively small numbers of cars made here in the UK...
Key and alarm fob info please?

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. True...and possibly a small number of owners of those small number of cars are active on forums like this one...

Re: Key and alarm fob info please?
I'll try to remember to measure my ride height tomorrow. I know my springs haven't been changed as we've had the car since new. The 85th sits 20mm lower than a standard TF.

Re: Key and alarm fob info please? - ride heights
A quick - and probably not very accurate ride height measurement on my 85th: 340 mm F and 350 mm rear! So approx the other way round from what the spec states (348 F and 343 R) - although I find it strange that the "correct" ride height should be less at the rear than the front? I will jack it up, get the wheels off and check the suspension as far as I can. None of the service records and invoices indicate any attention to the suspension. The car definitely looks very low at the front and as previously stated, "crashes" noisily over road inperfections, which presumably means the suspension is bottoming out? A visit to an event earlier in the year involving travelling (v slowly!) across a stony field to park resulted in several scrapes of the under part of the front bodywork assembly.

Re: Key and alarm fob info please?
I think its less at the rear because the car's styling means that the rear arch clearance is less at the rear than at the front.
However, I prefer a downward to the front rake to the trim height of the car - it looks better IMO and actually a little better aerodynamically too.
BTW springs can and do crack and snap. Might be worth checking this on yours? (Not come across this on a TF before - but common on other vehicles)

Re: Key and alarm fob info please? - ride heights
Thanks for that Rob. I sat down and had a think. As you suggest it is not direct ride height that is being measured, but an indicating measurement at a convenent point. I used to Sprint and Hill Climb - ModSports Midget, then Reynard FF2000 and measured ride height direct, ie a reference point under the car to the ground, but this is difficult with a road car. The car definitely feels as if it is riding very close to the bump stops (are there any?!) and there is very little movement if I try and "bounce" the suspension. Definitely a time to study the books, jack it up, remove the wheels and have a good look. Unfortunately, there are no commercial MG TF specialists here, but plenty competition shops, so might get my address book out and look up a few old racers? I should probably continue this thread with a new post and title as the alarm fob is no longer relevant.
