Hi all

Anyone know of a company who makes clear cam belt covers for the K series?

Im after a see through cover..

No I don't unfortunately. Make your own out of polycarbonate?

It needs vacuum forming or CNC machining really..

I doubt it. May be carbon fibre to save weight, but I don't think transparent would float the Lotus guys' boat.

Have you tried the ZR/ZS detailing guys?

You won't be able to see much of the cam belt with the engine in the car. Perhaps you can get 80% of the effect you're after by putting a polycarbonate window in the top of the standard cam cover?

The engine bay cover will be replaced with a custom made Lexion cover..

But appreciate the view of the clear cam cover will still be limited

Just having a play at the moment..

In my many years around K series engines I've never seen a clear cambelt cover, the nearest is Andy Watsons clear engine cover or the clear coolant pipes available for the ZR.

Looks like a good plan. Just a shame it will be hidden away on an MGF/TF. If you make the prototype there is no reason a vacumm former wont be able to copie the design in any colour including clear. And im sure the Z boys would snap them up in body colours.

We might be tempted to buy a couple.

It almost certainly did. He made more money breaking the car than he did buying it, so his coffee table (sans glass top etc) cost the BBC nothing...

Have found a company to make me thirty.. (minimum order)

I am sure you've put this on the ZR, ZS and ZT forums already? Also might be worth seeing whether any of the K-Midget guys might be interested What is the projected cost?

I was peering through at the engine from the boot of the TF yesterday thinking a clear cover or at the very least, a clear window would be useful...

Will watch this with interest, very interested

I know it’s a while back but did you get any further with the clear pulley case for the K ???
