Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

What would you have in your tool box?
I am thinking of putting together a traveling tool box to take to sprints and track days with Project Shed. Previously I didn't really bother, but I think that having a few tools for the "older F" is probably a good idea!
I expect to buy a few duplicates of tools I already have - a second socket set I already have; screw drivers; ratchet spanners etc.
I think that junior hack saw would be a good idea too.
Plus, gaffer tape, cable ties, a few assorted nuts and bolts, an alternator belt ...
Any other thoughts chaps?

Re: What would you have in your tool box?
You mentioned an alternator belt in your list of 'tools' Rob. On that basis I'd also specifically include a spare expansion bottle cap and radiator bleed screw, along with a couple of jubilee clips towards each end of the size spectrum!
If you're contemplating any wheel swaps a torque wrench might be useful, and latex gloves are always useful along with rag and/or paper roll.....
I have a friend with a B who always, but always takes a trolley jack and club hammer on any significant journey or event. I'm not aware that he's ever needed either for himself but he's certainly loaned the trolley jack to others on more than one occasion![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: What would you have in your tool box?
I've always carried a small trolley jack in the boot of my car, it takes up no room & it's much easier to use than faffing around with scissor jacks etc, coming from a large family of mechanics I honestly thought this was normal until a friend at a show saw it & said he couldn't believe I carried a trolley jack around ![Embarrassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

Re: What would you have in your tool box?
Mike, Mark, I do actually have a torque wrench I tend to keep in the car - it's a clever one because to reverse it you push out the square peg drive from one side and then re-instal it the other way. That way you can actually use the 'wrench to undo as well as do-up the wheel nuts without fear of damaging the mechanism! Also handy for other sockets on a 1/2" drive ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
Perhaps I should invest in another trolley jack? I took my low-level trolley jack - it's a Clarke 1.25 tonne jobbie - to my last track day, but it is a bit big. A Halfords type would be fine 99% of the time - so perhaps time to invest in another Daz, Mike?![Thumbs Up :thumbsu:](./images/smilies/afro.gif)
Great thought on the axle stands Chris. I actually have 3 pairs believe it or not. Curiously I found it to be the minimum number required when working on a car without wheels![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
Stanley knife, small file, emery cloth and an adhesive... brilliant! I have never found Superglue to be very "super" - so I think I'd use either epoxy resin or perhaps liquid metal? Not tried the latter, but it might prove useful?
Mike, the other spare parts are very sensible! I really should have them in my garage, but in fact I don't!
I must go and buy these and pop them in the tool box ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
Jon, thanks. I usually put in a footpump with a pressure gauge in the car, so that's covered. Multimeter? Hadn't really thought about that: probably a very good idea!
I think I should probably pop in some thread lock and copper grease to the box as well.
And yes, you say helsbyman, I can pretty much guarantee the one thing I'll need will be the one thing I've left behind...![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
But a great list so far - thanks so much!![Thumbs Up :thumbsu:](./images/smilies/afro.gif)

Bloody hell Rob, how big is your tool boxRob Bell wrote:I am thinking of putting together a traveling tool box to take to sprints and track days with Project Shed.

If its big enough to fit this lot in, you had better make a monster truck your next project to haul it about

Re: What would you have in your tool box?
Well certain things won't fit into the tool box - trolley jack, axle stands, torque wrench. Socket set has it's own case. Everything else should fit into a metal tool box? They fit nicely into the boot floor recess ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
I can't think of anything else to add to that list - so I reckon I'll start collecting the shopping list![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
