T300 Will it work.

Hi
Will a T300 read the fault codes on all MGFs and Tfs?
I ask as we have a 2003TF 160 which will not be read by our obd2 reader. Its EML is on
Therefore as we have early mgfs here as well, I would be happy to lay out £100 plus for a T300 if it will read all these .
many thanks for your replies

T300+ was able to read codes from Rover cars, but that was some time ago and you should be certain that software version uploaded to T300+ was specific which includes MG/Rover cars. As time goes by new software versions are created and MG/Rover cars slipped from list of supported cars. If you are buying from China I am not convinced they will even be able to tell you which cars present software support.

However, I bought pscan.eu software for laptop/tablet with interface which will read all codes from MG/Rovers and is supported from its creator, adding new functionalities as time goes by. However tgis is MG/Rover dedicated software not supporting any other cars.

I wonder if there is a fault in the OBD socket in your car Dave as it should be compliant to OBD2.

I wonder that as well? How could you check it?

Try the reader on another car.

A 2003 will definitely be EOBD compliant. Make sure that there is a 12V feed to the OBD socket, it could just be a blown fuse.

Rover wired their socket slightly differently - I can't quite remember the detail, but it is deficient of a ground pin IIRC - which isn't generally a problem for T4 and many aftermarket EOBD readers, but may be for some...

The T300 will read error codes and clear them. Pscan does this, as well as reading every single ECU in the car (of which there are many more than you'd first think there might be!)

Also, I read somewhere a couple of years ago that the latest releases of T300 weren't reading Rovers properly for some reason? Hopefully that is a bug that has been fixed?

This is the thread you need: http://mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15907 :)

Missing ground is pin 5.

The thread above talks mostly about the earlier, pre-EOBD compliant connector, but I have a hunch the same is true of the later Rover connectors too... :) I haven't had a chance to go through these wiring diagrams to confirm...
