Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Hi there.
This is Denmark calling
I got a MGF 120 HP from 1996 for 2 years. When the season started she fired first time just like last year after we replaced sparkpluks, cabls and Things related to make sparkpluks work. She ran like at kitten about a month. For the past 2 months she is very Hard 2 start, runs for at bit then dies. I have to do this up to 10 Times and work with the throttle to get her to breath. When shes warm no problem but in idle she stumble. I took of the step moter and cleaned it. She has 300.000 KM on the clock but sems to be sorted out otherwise
What do i do?

If the brown temperature sensor is giving av false signal this may cause the ECU to calculate a too lean fuel mixture.

Switch the ignition on so the dash lights come on.
Firmly and fully press the gas peddle down five times in 30 seconds
(do not rush)
wait 30 seconds
start the engine

Did the 5 step on the gas pedel and it made the engene run smooth but we discoved that the full pumpe dosent run every time the ignigtion is turned on. We have added at little bit of 2 stroke oil in the gasoline in case of the fuel pump needs lubricent

It may not run if the pressure seems ok in the supply pipes.

Well we did a dianogstic with bosh and it sayed that the cooling temperture sensor failed and the throttle mixture sensor too. Not sure i found the corect english Word for them but it seems logic since it have a Hard time firering up. Fuel filter is getting replaced when im back from hollydays.

Both Sensors replaced, gas filter as well. She fires better but sometimes i need to press the speeder an inch down. Hard to keep running without using the gas pedel. Even when shes is warmed up she has hick ups during drive on the moter way and when in idle she stalls . Fires better thoug. Did a chek on the spark plugs, looks fine.
Any idears

Hi, I think I'd adjust/tighten up the throttle cable on the inlet manifold now and see if that makes the idle better...

Does your diagnostic Bosh give live data.
What is the coolant temperature when the gauge shows warm?

Check the distributor cap and rotor button??? Just an idea to cross off the list
If not good replace with genuine ones, the Chine copies are rubbish.

I had a similar problem on my 97 vvc. Turned out to be an intermittent fuel pump relay. The one that is in the multi relay unit behind the ecu in the engine bay. Managed to get the unit apart and found dry solder joints on the relay. Soldering fixed the problem.

So to recap, absolutely no running probs when warm; it starts ok, idles ok and runs ok?
When cold it won't start unless you pump the throttle 10x and it won't idle? Presumably you have to race the engine to get it warm then drive it?
