Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Falken ZE310

Does anyone have any experience of the Falken ZE310 tyre, on an MGF, that has replaced the Falken 914, please?

No, but it’s a recommended tyre by VHS. I’ve just purchased some to fit when I take my winter tyres off.

Looking at the tyre size listing the 205/50 - 15 for the rear is V rated :thumbsu:
BUT there's TWO tyres listed for the front 185/55 R15 82H and 185/55 R15 86V XL.

I expect we need the V rated tyre even though it's listed as 2 decibels noisier,
so make sure you get the right ones.

My car came with the same size tyre front and rear, and I have since replaced them with the OEM tyre sizes and
I highly recommend it. The car is now properly balanced front/ rear when cornering hard.

Thanks Leefy. Excuse my ignorance but who / what is VHS?

Thanks Robbo. I just want the rears at the moment and the 215/16's fortunately only come in W rating.

As John says, it’s vehicle handling solutions. The suspension and handling engineers from MGR who branched off with their own company when MGR went bust.

I'm getting some of these fitted very soon to replace dodgy Toyo ones.

What's the recommended PSi on them?

I'm having 195 on the front and 215 on the rear and with the Toyo's I used to run 24 psi front and 28psi rear.

It depends which wheels you have - the 15" MGF wheels should have 185/55/15 front and 205/50/15 rear and IIRC 26psi and 28psi respectively.

I have 16" on so I went for the bigger tyres. Just wondering whether to stick with 24/28 psi or not.
