Windscreen washer pump - failure ?

Is failure of the windscreen washer pump fairly common ? After a bit of a slumber over winter, the last long run was Drive It Day, but this was dry and I can't remember if the washers were used. Yesterday went to a car rally in Lytham St Annes, and no washer action, not a peep ! Last time I remember it was a bit sluggish, the washer jets didn't give a very powerful jet of wash fluid. I can't see any separate fuse for it, but everything else seems to working. The pumps seem to be quite cheap, so I suppose its "replace and see if it works" time ?

An Update
Today I managed to get the washer bottle out which was a bit if a PITA, to be honest with so much in the way. The pump then comes out quite easily. My son-in-law came round to help, so with my old AVO meter, I checked that volts were being supplied to the pump. Yes they were, so ordered a new OEM pump. The aftermarket ones seem rather too cheap, so being perennially suspicious I decided to bite the bullet of the higher cost. I'm also taking the opportunity to tidy up the front compartment a bit. and give it a good clean-out.

Another thing to check is the one way valve, normally upstream nearer the jets. They can get gummed up and restrict the flow. It's surprising how a new valve can increase the flow considerably.
If not much improvement, try a new valve.
