MGF door mirrors

I think that this is a subject that may have been covered some time ago, but opinions seemed to vary. Are the door mirrors on the MGF (2001) designed to fold back, or does this simply break them? I have been given (free!) use of a 60s garage for my car when it arrives, but it is narrow so I will need to fold the mirrors to use it (or else have to stay in the car when it's in there!).
If they are a problem is there a modification/update to cure it?

Hi, the door mirrors are sprung loaded and do not fold. You will break them if you try.

Climb out through the roof, mate!

Thanks, RobboMC. Unfortunately the garage is one in a block next to the flats that live in and I suspect might get a bit damp and spidery in the winter - not good for the interior! The roof needs to be up. For now, I have settled on a half-cover and a sheltered parking position outside.

Really? I regularly fold mine back when the car is in the garage to avoid knocking them and never had a problem.

Thanks John SS. interestingly the owners handbook (page 23) indicates that the mirrors DO fold back "into a 'park' position".
