I am having to change my cross-gate cable, the long one.
Something similar has been done before as I found that the closure plate was missing, which has saved me a lot of grief. However I found that this cable exited into the engine bay to the right of the two big coolant pipes while the shorter cable exited to the left. It seemed to me that the run of the cross-gate cable would be smoother if it also went to the left.
Does anyone know which is correct?

Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Re: Gear selector cables
From memory, both cables follow one another, but will need to check!!!
Also, it would be good to replace the closing plate, as without it, you'll get engine bay fumes entering the cabin (ask me how I know )
