Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

I would say the paint shop as they will be able to match the colour better and will also be able to produce the paint in a can for you.
the trouble with mass producest spray cans is just that, there mass producest. have you got any experience of spray painting? if not I can answer any questions.

Hi Stu,

I've used Rimmers aerosol paint (listed as genuine Rover) Old English White when I fitted scoops to the side intakes - paint was spot on with the rest of the car. Also bought a touch up stick from Rimmers & again its spot on.

You get a can of paint + a can of clear lacquer, only criticism would be that the cans are smaller then what you get in say Halfords BUT having experienced Halfords paints on our Ford I wouldnt touch their paints, either off the shelf or mixed in store.

I have a job to do on the front bumper before the 'new season' starts & will use Rimmers again :thumbsu:

hi pete

i agree with you there, don't touch halfords. depending on the colour and how much there is to spray a local auto paint shop may be better. i have just finished re spraying the front wing and bumper on my f (british racing green) and it would have been very expensive to use cans, also the colour match needed to be exact as there was such a large area to cover. cans are o.k for small things like scoops and repairs but then again stu does not say how much there is to spray.

cheers
darren.

Hi Darren

Side cills are what I need to paint, not the F though.
I have used Rimmers for satin black on wheels with success.

Stu,

You could try Xpart: http://www.mgroveraccessories.com/shop/ ... index.html

I need some BRG paint, so I could order yours at the same time and save some postage between us, as it's the same whether I order 1 or more cans!

It is actually illegal to send paint aerosols through the post. The fine, if you get caught, is quite hefty.

I knew there were restrictions, thought that was just for the likes of air freight :(

Thought the postage costs Rimmers and Xpart quote seemed quite high given the size of parcel - this must be why. Perhaps they use a courier.

Nigel

it comes under the "limited quantities" rule, which puts it in the road freight heading thats why they use a courier and means parcel force  could even deliver it.
