Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

service kit around £26 genuine stuff.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-MG-TF-ROV ... 3cb629ec0d

Set spark plugs.
Air filter.
Oil filter.

So easy to do.

Add new oil.
Add new coolant.
Top brake fluid up.
Top power steering fluid up.

check wheel condition and air.
check all bulbs.

change the petrol filter if need be.

(This is a five year self service.)(we don't really leave it 5 years only that the coolant new stuff last five years.))

Your suppose to change the oil every 50.000 miles.

all the above usually cost around £200 but can be done via your self.

if you need step via step info then just ask we can help.

even change the alternator belt, there only £6, and if they go, they can rip the cam belt out, and damage the engine completely.

If u need even a more intense service, like cam belt, upper, lower, gaskets, ect ect then i agree a garage, but general stuff done via your self really, it part off owning a mgf unfortunately, but if you rally want to throw money away, there surly a( twick fit) near you or a back alley garage.

why i do it my self.
I got my one caliper put on, and it cost £240, was 100 for caliper, and 140 for the work, never again.(i done the other 3 calipers for £70 off ebay, was shocked, £240 not again.

Remember petrol not cheap, and according to future prices, after this xmas petrol could be around £2 a liter, now that scary. (now think shall, i give my money away when with effort, i can do it my self, or a friend can help me.

not debating petrol prices, but if London uk, goto war as expected with another country, we shall have a 40% increase in oil and petrol.(only my opinion

As you live in South America, I only know one good service place in Caracas.
Go for a good recommended Service Shop. As a retired professional, I will pay £120 for an "A" Service or £180 for a "B" rather than the hassle to do it myself.

if you are based in the UK & not South America
Check Pete's site http://www.mgf-tf-central.co.uk/links-s ... l#Midlands for garages that have come to his attention.
Luffield Cars at Loughborough not that far away from you has a good reputation & they race TFs so know their way around the cars.

Ron, you have an X-Part centre right on your doorstep. Head for Leabrooks and D&D are on the main road on the right.

I know it is April 1st but please don't spend too long looking for your steering pump fluid reservoir; check coolant type - only long-life (which wasn't reccommended) before leaving it five years between changes and the engine would probably benefit from annual or 12000 mile oil and filter changes - whichever is less. Plugs are a 50000 mile change interval and brake fluid a 2 year change interval.

hi LEE I had my cambelt changed by russell of MG solutions. he came to my house & fitted the belt on my drive (to the car not the drive) he charged me £120 which I thought was quite reasonable, he is well thought off in the T.BAR register. hope this is of some help. email address.gasketrepairs@aol.com. mob no 07515539894.Cheers ron

Russel Walsh is the man.

http://www.mgroversolutions.com/

he so fast at his job and very accurate, hundreds rover dealers no Russell he can strip a whole mg in 3 hours no problem,

he done my head gasket vvc, full cam belts, full service, car pump up 1 half hours very fast man.

he a specialist in the rover world, can do a engine replacement in hours, very fast,
example seen, he replace a full clutch, one and half hour, that fast, usually takes 10 hours.

and you get, a one year guarantee, on his work, includes home/work visits.....
he works roadside other, does not care. rain, wind, snow or sun , he always reliable, once booked.

he a good lath a swell, he also attends loads of the mg meet ups when not busy,he loves tea. lol, i got a massive cup for him, i have used him three times.

my dad heard of him, as a rover hard core very fast rover engine re builder, that before he went privert.

you can ask for advice off Russel as-well, very good man.

work man ship 10/10
speed 10/10
personalty 10/10
price very fair, look on web site.
guarantee use 10/10 << he don,t care go wrong, before 12 months he there.

he can bring life to cars, that are considered as dead/scrap.
