That's all very well but how old is the car and what mileage has it done. Some pictures would also be good along with a starting price.

HI

The car is a R reg with 81500 miles on the clock.

Note the car no longer has the bucket seats.

AS for price I'm open to offers, I think it would break for a £6k but I'm looking for less.

6K :o good luck

i have had my Fab Solar Red T Reg F highly modded and only 64k for sale for 2 months and not one phone call,i would be happy with 2K but don't think i will even get that the way the F/TFs are priced at mo,it's very very sad,i now have a TF160 and really like it and will give it couple of years perhaps and then i think that's it no more MG's for me you need very deep pockets owning one of these and i've just about had enough, parts are getting rarer and the Chinese don't seem to give a hoot for existing owners, would i buy another MG? No Way Sorry, my friend has just sold his 02 TF for
£1,600 and it was superb condition,he now has an 03 Porsche Boxster which i drove on Saturday and wow! i just loved it and very very impressed,it's affordable so this may be way i go in near future,we'll see :( Dave

I didn't say it would sell together for £6k , but If I break it the bits looking at ebay should make getting on for that. What mods did you have on yours out of curiousity ?????

When discussing running costs of an MG there has to be some consideration given to the costs of essential items as in servicing, tyres etc and the substantial amounts that are spent on the ' darkside '
I am on my 4th MG, none have cost me more than the normal running costs so my opinion may differ as I am a no bling owner, I have spent my money on the petrol that allows me to go on the journeys I have made both in the UK and Europe, it is just a case of how you decide to spend your money but as my TF is my only car it gets well used and I feel the car benefits from regular use.
The Chinese owners of MG are looking forward and as such I feel it is a little unfair to criticise them for not being supportive of cars produced by a company that went bankrupt in 2005, the very small issue ( with parts supplied by a big name automotive supplier ) with the car was checked and rectified in a speedy and efficient manner so no complaints from me, I am very satisfied that the new owners of MG made the TF available again at a cost of approx £4000 less than the last one I bought from MGR in 2003.
I would be interested in hearing how your friend gets on with his Porsche when he has had it for 12 months and has a service etc. a MG may be rather more basic but represents in my opinion very good value if you do not get sucked deeply into the customising side of ownership.

That's the trouble with cars all round particularly modded ones - they are never worth the amount of money you actually put in to them ...but its still a lot of fun doing it !

Anyway I thought I recognised this car and it is one of the earlier modded MGFs. You might like to see a pic of it in an earlier incarnation - I think this was around 2003 at the start of the Regency Run at Brooklands. The owner, about a year or so afterwards, moved away from the big wings and loud stripes etc and went for a new paint job and more subtle mods which is what you see today with more additions by the look of it ...... I still sometimes display a picture of this car in this guise at car shows to illustrate modded Fs.....

Yep of course i take take our point Art and of course i always knew adding mods would not add value to my Fbut as Tim says it was hugely enjoyable thing to do,it's still sad that they are now worth nowt compared to similar 2 seaters, and as you say i know the new owners have made the TF available again and thats my problem, why haven't they made all the parts available? I just sold my 1955 MG-ZA that I owned for several years.
The modding bug bit me hard on that one, 1800+.060 high performance rebuild, supercharger, Twin-Cam wheels, 4-wheel discs,
etc, etc. I got a good price for it as far as Magnette's go but it was still only about half what I had in it. It does hurt to think of it but
on the other hand I did get 4 years of entertainment sourcing the bits and modding the car. If I had taken up golf I probably would
have spent as much on clubs, lessons and greens fees so I reckon I didn't make out too badly.
We'll see how I make out as an MGF owner. I'm going to try not to fall into the modding trap but I already have all of the appropriate websites
bookmarked, so we'll see.
Good luck with your sale cejsmith, it's a lovely car!

Cheers,
Rich

Dave, I think you will find the parts situation is the responsibility of XParts, I understand they signed an agreement to maintain a supply of parts for a 10 year period, I cannot remember if the agreement was made with the administrators of MGR following the closure or the new owners but I do know that when I bought my present TF and wanted a wind stop I had to get it through XPart even though there were supplies in Longbridge.
