MG TF 2003 For Sale with private plate - NOW £400

Post by Stevie » Sat Jan 31, 2015 12:25 pm

Hi All,

My X-POWER GREY TF was written off (CATEGORY D which means it's repairable) by the insurers after someone pranged it whilst it was in my driveway - they drove off so I never found out who did it.
I managed to buy it back off the insurance company as i don't want it scrapped and TBH since I need to pay the insurance on it for the rest of the year really want to get my money back on it.
I am expecting the car back this week and the V5 should follow within the next week or so.

I ALSO HAVE A SPARE DRIVERS WING AND BONNET WHICH WILL BE THROWN IN WITH THE SALE.

ALSO OFFERED WITH THE SALE IS MY PRIVATE PLATE: MIG 3913

I am offering it to the members on here - the only damage to it to my knowledge is the bumper and possible wing dent damage and it needs a new battery.
Its not been on the road for several months as I have a daily driver.

The photos below show the extent of the damage;

£400
OFFERS INVITED...DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK ;)
(Please note, the tonneau has been sold on).

Many Thanks,

Stevie is in Glasgow, just five minutes from me.

Tempted myself! I've hovered over the reply button a couple of times but my marriage would be at risk if I bought another car.

If that is the only damage and the third party is untraceable why report it to the insurance co, it will cost you money in the long run.

I'm about 2 hours away in Northumberland.

I've got 3 Fs and 2 TFs at the minute so really shouldn't buy this but I am tempted. I have a mint XPG front bumper going spare too.

Hi fella,

I didn't think they would write it off.
I shouldn't affect my other car's insurance since its on a separate policy with its own no-claims bonus.

If it does, lesson learned but really innocent people shouldn't be discouraged from asking insurers to do the job they are paid by said people to do!

Fair enough, it's just in my experience of minor damage that it is cheaper to repair myself than incur the policy excess, even if one doesn't expect the car to be written off.

£800? I'm oot!

I bought a very similar car with suspension damage but no body damage at all which wasn't recorded as a write-off for £300 a few weeks ago. It also had an MGFMania heated rear window hood.

Good luck with the sale though.

Wasn't quit sure what to pitch it at, might be that one can get a bumper cheaper than getting suspension fixed?
None the less, I want the car to go and as stated I'm open to offers.

Car arrived back from the insurers yesterday. It was evident from the snow on the roof it had been stored outside for last two months, hence reason for drop in price.
Anyone interested PM me.

Looking to recover cost of salvage and insurance only.

Spare bonnet, wing and private plate all included in sale.

Most claims you make will affect any other vehicles/policies that you have, other than theft/malicious damage claims. So this claim probably would affect this policy and any others you have...
