8-10 Aug'14 Oldtimer Grand Prix at "The Ring" Germany
Cheap camping option for those wanting a great cheap weekend overseas
Others can stay in local hotels
In 2013 some of us had a great long weekend at The Ring for the Oldtimer Grand Prix. It's like a much more relaxed, less crowded, cheaper and easier going version of Le Mans Classic
We met up with some other German F and TF owners there as well
Event details http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/events/ol ... -prix.html Event ticket prices tbc but were cheap in 2013
Planning to camp there, but hotels are are an option for those that prefer them, and hope to get a reserved camping area for us, as most other car clubs seemed to do so as well
Camping details http://www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de/ it's a great campsite, really big with very good facilities and next to the race circuit
specific Oldtimer Grand Prix camping weekend details http://www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de/E ... index.html
List so far
Col - MG 260
Steffi - TF
Les and June - old Triumph car tbc
Klaus & Brigette - F tbc
The Birdies - TF tbc
Andy & Faye - GT6 tbc
Andre (Germany) - Morgan
The more the merrier, but camping area will only be reserved for those posting on this thread

Re: 8-10 Aug'14 Oldtimer Grand Prix at "The Ring" Germany
Several people are asking me about a cheap weekend away in the summer
rough costing estimates
weekend entry to the OId Timer Grand Prix 58 Euro's
Camping thursday night 11 Euro's
Camping Friday night 39 Euro's
Camping Saturday night 39 Euro's
Camping Sunday night 39 Euro's
Camping Monday night 11 Euro's
Camping estimate = 139 Euro's (5 nights)
Electric hook up supply 2 Euro's a night = 10 Euro's
So this could great action packed event be done for less than 200 Euro's (including camping without electric)
est £150 for petrol and say cheap ferries for £50 return and that's a great weekend for one person approx £375 or two people for £540
either way its a great cheap long weekend away in August, with Camping right next to the action is with really good facilities. These include; Toilet and Shower Block, shop, 2/3 places were you can get hot meals, and it even has its own bar / nightclub at one end of the site overlooking the action on the track
For those not wanting to camp, and happy to stay in accomadation up to 15 miles from the circuit, a quick look on booking.com finds accomadation for less than £200 for Thursday to Sunday nights inclusive (4 nights not 5 as per the camping costs)
So a non camping 4 night option could work out at
1 person approx 58 euro ticket, £200 accomadation, £200 fuel & ferry = approx £450
2 people approx as above but 2 entry tiockets = approx £500
I hope this helps

What a great weekend, despite some heavy showers the racing was great
We even had a mini Koln Stamtisch meet on the Sunday with Brigette & Klaus, Peter, Steffi and myself
