19-26 Aug 2018 - MG Rhine Tour

Hi everybody,

as had been made public at this year’s Niederrhein Tour, it was meant to be the last weekend event as usual. Nevertheless, I implied that I already had something different on my mind. Well, now this has been finalised and here we go: It will be a Grand Tour, a one week drive, going along the whole (more or less) of the river Rhine, from its source in Switzerland to where it drops its name in Holland. Not an easy one, 110 to 145 miles or five hours per day, but definitely an interesting event to attend. This could also fit in nicely with the 2018 European Event of the Year, which is the weekend before and is located “just down the road” from our starting point.

As this involves a little more planning and support, I have now resorted to make this an official MGCC Germany event, but you do not necessarily have to be a Car Club member to participate. Strongly recommended though, anyway!

Having done this (but not in one go) I can say it is a fantastic drive -- might be tempted to do it Mykel .

The website http://www.mgf-tours.de has now had a major update. Registrations will open on 7th January, with the Houten auto jumble in Holland, where the flyers will be handed out.

Please make sure that you register through the web site!

That's great progress Mykel and great to see some new people in addition to the regulars

Great to see Alan and Jette from Denmark joining you. Such great people but sadly it's been a couple of years or more since I last saw them

And the lovely 1300 convertible to, they are a lovely couple to, I've met them several times on Luxembourg events

We are making it the central part of a ''Grand Tour'' !! And it's good to see that us along with Scarlet means two of the oldest MGFs will be on the Rhine.

Karin and I are looking forward to seeing a lot of you as well as visiting new and old places.

It is good to see 8 of the cars are F's, and 7 of them are Mk1!
At many events TF rules nowadays, and I feel a bit of a special driving a '96 F, the oldest car of the lot. This time mine is not the oldest by far

Step by step the number of participants is rising, up to now Two Brittish cars, one from Sweden, a bunch of German cars and a single one from the downstream country. Join in so that the international part of the group gets a bit bigger in number.
