April 2nd Bunny Blast
We now have a cunning plan!
On Easter Monday we start the run from the M3 Fleet Services southbound (GU51 1AA). Look for us on the LHS as you enter the car park.
We aim to depart the Services at 10am for a scenic run of about 45 miles.
For a change this year our destination is the Crofton Beam Engines, a steam-driven pumping station on the banks of the Kennet & Avon Canal near Marlborough. The ancient beam engines are over 200 years old and our visit is planned to coincide with one of the ‘steaming days’. It’s a wonderful sight, even for those of us who are not steam buffs!
We will be able to tour the museum at the group rate of £6.50pp.
On arrival at the site we suggest a visit to the on-site café for refreshments followed by a short talk by one of the museum’s volunteers. After this we can look around the museum and watch the inner workings of the massive engines & pumps.
At any time we can pop into the café for a light lunch or, alternatively, go to a local pub.
For those who prefer not to look around the museum, the café is accessible without paying to enter the museum and the adjacent canal towpath makes for a very pleasant walk if the weather is good.
We’ll post more details nearer the date but please let us know if you are interested in joining us for the day.

Re: April 2nd Bunny Blast
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning at Fleet Services (with umbrellas!).
We're planning to hand out the tulip route sheets at 9.50am.
Please note that we'll be leaving to start the run at 10am so suggest you arrive at the M3 Services to allow time for a cuppa/comfort break.
The run should take about 1.5 hours. On arrival we'll head for the cafe for refreshments and the site's Ops Mgr has offered to give our group an introductory talk about Crofton before we head into the museum.
See you all tomorrow,
Paul & Donna.
