Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Anyone used a T4 to read SRS / Airbag ECU codes?
I have been trying to connect my T4 to an MGF SRS ECU because there are some error codes that pscan doesn't understand and I want to reverse engineer them out of the T4.
I cannot get my T4 to connect.
It asks for the "grey" cable, but when the "grey" cable is plugged in it says that it isn't there and so it won't even attempt to connect to the car.
The say same "grey" cable works fine on the same T4 unit on my wifes Freelander (it's used for the immobiliser on these) using Landrover software so I don't think that there's anything wrong with the cable.
Has anyone here had an SRS / Airbag warning light and successfully had the code read from a real T4 diagnostic tool? It is making me wonder if the dealer tool actually works, in the same way that the ZS 180 software never worked properly either.

I haven't got the SRS warning light on, but that is quite easily done by sliding one of the seats back and forward.
I then could check with the T4 if you like.

You don't need to create an error. Even if you can log into the SRS and have it tell you that there are no codes then you will have gotten further than me.

Hi Philip,
I've not come across this problem either. You're welcome to borrow my MGF in case having the ECU in the car makes a difference, or the SRS ECU you have has a particular peculiar problem?

The T4 Rover software is refusing to accept the T4 cable that I have. If I plug it into your car it still won't accept the cable.

Ismthere difference in a cable? Maybe worth to check pinout of both cables and compare?

T4 asks to switch cable. Out of the the top of my head, it requires the one with the grey plug.
I haven't done it yet, as I need to swap MG's so the one with the MGRover MEMS gets in the garage with the T4.
