Looks interesting, but this clashes with the festivities of the 75th birthday of D-Day.

This event that MG Club de France are doing, to my mind, is what future European Events of the Year should be like. Great events and at the same time, Great Value!! This and MGCC Luxembourg's Ardennen Meeting, to my mind, is the kind of events we should be striving for. Make them accessible to the younger generations, not just to those that have endless Euro's to play with!ErikB wrote:Looks interesting, but this clashes with the festivities of the 75th birthday of D-Day.

Ardennen MeetinG is tremendous fun, as it isn't too gigantic.
As the EEOTY has quite some prestige and as it is the opportunity for a club to shine internationally it never will be a low budget event. Take also into account regional differences in budget (what is cheap for people from A, might be expensive for citizens of B) and the distances people need to travel to join and you'll see it isn't easy to get an event that is impressive at an European low or even average price.
I admit adding tracktime to the EEOTY's isn't helping to limit the expenses.
Younger generations will not join or stay away from a club depending on the price of a EEOTY in a foreign country far away if you can book a flight for less than 50GBP and book all in holidays for less than what we usually spend on a long weekend trip with the MG's.
Offering enough events and possibilities where new people feel welcome and embraced is IMHO the key. It's the people that make a club, not the number of fancy cars or the number of courses during the gala dinner of an event.

You raise some good points Erik
If I could wave a magic wand, I would be going to both this French event and the Luxembourg Ardennen Meeting
From memory even EEOTY Belgium at Spa was reasonable value including the use of the Spa Circuit of one day of the event

The MG French Club and me in particular are looking forward to meeting numerous of you at our big "MG Days"
No doubt you will have great fun there and enjoy driving on the Lurcy-Levis Circuit. We will do our best to please you with several activities and good meals as well !
On Saturday you will have a choice between 3 different tours and if you don't want to go to the circuit on Sunday you can choice one of the 4 tours presented (one of them is a special tour for the "Ladies Drivers" )
If you are planning to participate; let me advice to look on Booking.com where the rates are often less expensive than those booked through the Tourism Office of Nevers services.
Have a great year 2019 !
