Re: MGF Trophy
The chassis number should tell you and confirm what you have, if you make a note of it and then look up what each letter/number means it will give you a picture. As mentioned a few photo's may help too although some have over the years been made to look a bit like a Trophy but the engine etc isn't.

Re: MGF Trophy
The 6th character in the VIN code will be Z if it is a Trophy.
If it has walnut on the dash it is unlikely to be a Trophy. It will have trophy wheels, spoiler at front, rear spoiler on boot, trophy lights, colour coded centre dash and door cards, trophy seats and larger AP brakes on the front if it is a Trophy. Obviously the engine will be a 160 too.
If you supply the 6 final digits of the VIN to our Registrar via registrar@mgfregister.org he will be able to confirm what car you have.

Re: MGF Trophy
As Keith says, it'll be the VIN that will tell you whether you have a Trophy 160 - the 6th character reveals the nature of the 160PS engine. See http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group1/info/C ... /index.htm for more on how to interpret the chassis code
You could have either a Freestyle VVC (launched a little later, used the front splitter and rear spoiler, but different interior, standard suspension and the then standard 145PS VVC engine). These would usually have "Freestyle" letters on the rear nearside corner under the rear lamp cluster.
Or it is a standard VVC that someone has fitted a Trophy splitter too. It's a common modification. You can still buy GRP replicas from the bay of fleas for about £90.
With a bit of luck, you've got a Trophy - and in which case cherish and look after it - it's the collector's edition of the range.
