Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Thanks bigjohn. Some have said to me that MGF's are not worth the effort due to low values, but for me it's not about that. I love the F and TF having owned different MG's since I started driving in 1975. They are a classic in their own right!
The Trophy will probably now not be ready for Silverstone, but one day soon it will be finished and ready to enjoy

Yeah, how many of us do work on our F/TFs just to increase value, in fact I probably go the other way and spend money on it so that I can't justify selling it as I'd lose so much, stops Mr TC spending £22k on her Fiat spider
Home to black Alfa 159 3.2 V6 Q4, blue MGZR160, green MGF VVC and grey MGF 1.8i, and red MG Maestro T16.

Making excellent progress
Rather exciting to get a car that will be as new at the end of it!

It's going to the paintshop in about 3 weeks, 2 weeks in the paintshop, and then finishing touches

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
New seats don't quite fit, they sit too high. But Andy will sort this I am sure!

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Where are the seats from?
One of the problems with non-original seats is that they will tend to sit too high. The originals are quite cleverly made to drop the squab height as low as possible.

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
That's right Rob, always best to use an original squab if possible, or use the design you came up with. The ones in the photo are Mazda seats, all dimensions correct, but too high at the mo...

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Hi Kevin,
I was up at Andy's this afternoon to collect my TF and noticed the progress on your Trophy. It's going to be fantastic!
A standard Trophy is a lot of fun, but I think yours will be amazing.
Got to be honest, I'm not too sure about the MX5 seats . All the classic boys seem to rave about them for TR6's mgb's etc, but my wife's got a Mk1 V-spec and I find them a bit un comfy! Certainly not as comfy as the Oxford leather seats in the TF.
However, we're all different (and were all different shapes) so I hope they work really well for you.
Maybe I've just got a thing about Mazda's co's my brother's always banging on about how great they are and how they're better than an MGF
Anyway, I can't wait to see the finished product. Andy's doing an amazing job and I'm sure it's going to very good.
Hope to see you sometime, Phil
