Really interesting! I guess the lights are primarily there for other drivers to see you behind them rather than for iluminating the road ahead, so a DRL approach should work perfectly (and save some weight!)
Does the oil cooler need fans? They look fairly light weight, so I guess not much penalty compared to ducting.

Had a go at my passenger side bar. Looks like two T30 screws. Trouble is, the outer one rounded off immediately (argh). I'll try making a slot, then a screw driver and if not, will drill out. I guess they were never intended to be removed and I have not seen them listed separately on the electronic parts catalogue either.

It's been quite a while, short notice 6 month deployment and returning to lock downs. I have now finished the under tray and rear diffuser just needs a little more fettling before I'm happy.

2020 has been quite a year hasn't it?
Love this work - I've been giving this a lot of thought for my car too, although I am not allowed to "flat floor" the car under my class regulations (more's the pity). However, filling a few "holes" in the floor I think I could reasonably argue as being "reasonable"
I wasn't planning on enclosing the engine bay like that though - as the sump gets a reasonable amount of cooling and I think on the MGF, most of the engine bay cooling air flow comes from underneath rather than through the side "intakes". I'd be interested to hear how you find engine bay and oil temperatures with this set up, but with a TF, you probably have better air flows via the better shaped intakes.
I really like your diffuser design - hopefully you'll be able to undertake some testing to check its efficacy. What is its angle from the undertray? Really hard to judge from the photos... (looks to be about 10degrees?)
I've recently been enjoying watching Julian Edgar's YouTube videos over Christmas. I like this guy a lot - worth a watch

Going to cutting holes in the engine bay bulk head as per cup car, didn't notice it in my copy of the build instructions but as I'm looking at ITBs will need to do it anyway. Have angle grinder will use, should have done this much earlier rather than waiting now because I want to fit ITBs. Much improved heat management and access. Need to remover the header tank to finish off that side and get the flap wheel on to tidy up.

I've been thinking about this too - I was planning on putting in a return flange around the perimeter of the hole to help preserve some stiffness in the panel. Probably something in the range of 10mm should be sufficient?

There's box section on the other side Rob, so I cut it like I have to retain the integrity of it and the spot welds. I may seem weld it a bit not sure. I'm also contemplating the cut at the bottom as well as per the above. Then cut out a section of he back of the boot behind the number plate area of the bumper and make a duct out of cardboard and resin and cut the bumper to allow the air out.

Good point regarding the box section: I'd forgotten about that! But every little helps I think, and seam welding sounds like a good plan (if a little awkward unless you've got the engine out?)
