Hi any help is welcome my temp gauge has started to play up and I would like to try to diagnose if it is the sender or the thermostat etc, temp gauge go up to normal heater working fine, as you drive gauge drops down two notches on gauge if you stop it climbs back to normal. It used to go up to normal and just stay there with very little movement now it seems extreme.I know it is now colder and will drop as car running but this is strange it will not do it for a few miles then do it. I hope this makes some sense difficult to put it down in words.

Re: Coolant Gauge
This sounds more likely to be a sender issue and because of the difficulty of accessing the thermostat with consequent system bleeding, I would start by replacing the sender. They are cheap and more easily accessed without the need for bleeding. You don't need to throw the old one away unless the problem is then fixed.

Thank you for your answer I was thinking of going down that route as I really don't want to do the thermostat now it is getting colder. Appreciate it.Charless wrote:This sounds more likely to be a sender issue and because of the difficulty of accessing the thermostat with consequent system bleeding, I would start by replacing the sender.
