Local expets?
Hi guys, new to the MG scene - bought a 2001 MGF recently. I have a couple of problems with the way it runs. Seems quite lumpy from when i start it up. Also seems to be a bit juddery whilst cruising at 50/60, and doesnt want to go past about 85mph (private road).
I have posted this on the technical page too, but thought id see if i could find any local experts who could take a look for me
Thanks in advance!
Adam

Re: Local expets?
Thanks guys, ill pop up and see him during the week, working all the hours in the day at the moment!
Bit of an update, plugged it in today and it gave me 2 stored faults and one pending.
Stored ones were P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected and
P0313 which is something to do with low fuel or something....
I cleared these and rescanned car, they didnt show back up yet but its still running bad. Had it sitting there for 10 mins whilst playing with the software and had a strong smell of petrol fumes...
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Re: Local expets?
P0300 could be any of the following:
• Faulty spark plugs or wires
• Faulty coil (pack)
• Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
• Faulty fuel injector(s)
• Burned exhaust valve
• Faulty catalytic converter(s)
• Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
• Faulty camshaft position sensor
Check fuel filter/air filter first
P0313 is bad fuel/air mix- probably the O2 sensor I reckon.
I'd take it in to the nearest xpart or MG specialist and have them run a diagnostic on it- bet my bottom dollar its plugs, leads, coil pack and a dodgy sensor.
Good luck with it tho pal- hope you get it sorted

Re: Local expets?
Hi Stuart,
Thanks for your reply!
Hopefully it will just be the spark plugs or leads.
Ill check these over when i get a day off, is there an easy way to diagnose sensors etc?
I PM'd Steve from British Legends on here a little while ago so ill go see him if i have no luck with plugs.
Thanks again mate

Re: Local expets?
The strong fuel fumes you're experiencing could be a clue here- if fuel's getting out where it shouldn't then air is getting in where it shouldn't and that'd explain the 2nd fault reading (P0313)
Really though get it down to British Classics- they'll have it running right in no time.
